6-1,7-2, So much humiliation in one day!

By S Sai Jagannath

Winning and losing is a part of the game but for Manchester United and Liverpool fans, it was something more than that. The premier league champions Liverpool and the mighty Manchester United underwent huge setback against Aston Villa and Tottenham respectively.

Liverpool, the defending champions of the premier league lost 7-2 to Aston Villa in Villa Park on Sunday. The defending champions were embarrassed by this devastating loss. Liverpool became the first-ever defending champions to concede 7 goals in a match, the last time when such a thing happened in the English top division was back in 1953. After a poor performance last season, Aston Villa has won 3 out of the 3 they have played this season with Ollie Watkins scoring a hat trick and Jack Grealish scoring twice against the defending champions on Sunday. Mohammed Salah was the lone warrior for Liverpool scoring 2 goals despite the poor passes from the Liverpool defenders.

Jurgen Klopp’s red was crushed by the visitors which raised a lot of questions about Adrian and the Liverpool defence. A lot of statements were made against the defending champions but none so good that can solace the team's humiliation.

As it happened, the football fans saw one more match which shook and shocked, if not everyone but Manchester United fans for sure. Known to be the biggest English team the 13-time winner Manchester United lost 6-1 to Tottenham on Sunday at Old Trafford. The visitors went to create an unassailable 4-1 by half time, by then Man United we're already down by 10 players after Martial was shown the red card.

The visitors kept on going hard at the home team with T Ndombele and S Aurier scoring each and Kane and Son scoring twice against the Mighty Manchester, while B Fernandes was the only one who scored for Manchester in a penalty. It was a hard day for the home team but the players and fans hope for a strong comeback in the upcoming games.
