Is work from home hurting the heart? Read to know more.

COVID-19 has changed the way India works with a vast majority of professionals working from home since the pandemic broke down.

Coronavirus cases have surged, so most of the companies are asking their employees to work from home. Working from home can be fun as well as daunting at the same time. They are sitting longer than usual in front of their laptops which is leading to stress, negative thoughts, and hypertension which is a high-risk factor for having cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) affect people across ages and it is not astonishing that it is the leading cause of mortality in India.

According to studies, if you sit for more than 10 hours without doing any activity, your cardiovascular risk goes up. So here are a few ways how you can prevent yourself from having a heart disease. It is very important to monitor your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol with regular self-monitoring. Save some time to get rest. The diet needs to be controlled since the level of physical activity is less. Practice some simple exercises which are best for your heart. Make sure your body remains active. Think positive and stay calm. Avoid using alcohol and smoking as a coping mechanism rather have some side hobbies. Keep in contact with your family and friends, it might help to deal with the stress.

Several pieces of research have proved COVID does not impact only the lungs but can affect any body part, including the heart. So pay attention to signs, workout every day, have a healthy diet, stay safe, and take good care of your heart.
