Journalist quits Republic TV for ‘ethical reasons’
By Ankita Mohanty
In a series of tweets that surfaced today, Republic TV journalist, Shantasree Sarkar announced her resignation from the news channel, describing her reasons as ‘ethical’.
After the news of Rhea’s arrest by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for drug charges concerning Sushant Singh Rajput’s death broke out, a journalist took onto Twitter to shed light on Republic TV’s ‘aggressive agenda’ to harass and ‘vilify’ Rhea Chakraborty.
She goes on saying that the current practice adopted by Republic TV and their staff is unethical as it boiled downed to chasing anyone who visited Rhea’s apartment. She says that ‘she was taught to unearth truth’ but they deliberately ignored many clues favoring Rhea’s part because ‘it didn’t suit their agenda’.
There has been an uproar on twitter since the twitter thread went viral. Many people applauded her, while others were quite critical about the entire fiasco.
It seems like more and more Republic TV employees are quitting their jobs. Recently Tejinder Singh Sodhi also came clean about his reason for resignation. “This is not the journalism that I had joined Republic for, reporters were being used to do the hit job on behalf of Arnab,” he said.
