KKR's tough journey accompanied by CSK's late spark!

By S Sai Jagannath

The tournament is all set to enter the qualifier round with only a few matches to go but still, only one team has qualified (Mumbai Indians) and only one team has been knocked out yet (Chennai Super Kings). The other 8 teams are still in a hustle to book their spot for playoffs which makes every match from now on an unofficial qualifier. You win, you qualify. You lose, you take a plane straight back to India.

KKR vs CSK was a crucial match for KKR to qualify and a crucial match for CSK to uphold their pride. The match took place in Dubai where Men in yellow won the toss and chose to bat first. KKR scored a total of 172 while Nitish Rana was their star with the bat scoring 87 and Dinesh Karthik finishing the innings scoring 21 of 10 deliveries. CSK started pale but Rituraj Gaikwad the young gun scored 72 supported by Raydus 38 helped CSK to take the game deep until Jadeja smashed two sixes of Nagarkoti to win the match in style. KKR gave away the match quite easily as if they never wanted to qualify. 27 of 9 balls and the next thing you know is Jadeja is the hero of the match. Rituraj Gaikwad performed brilliantly in his last 2 matches showing his real talent to shut off critics. A talented bloke for sure.

While the heroic innings of Jadeja came to an end many things simultaneously happened on the points table. Mumbai Indians became the first team to qualify for playoffs, KXIP jumped into the top four which was unrealistic and KKRs campaign is on the verge of collapsing. The spark which Dhoni talked about has started to backfire on other team's. Even now there are 5 teams fighting and 3 spots available. Let us see who makes the final cut!
