Ten people died as the three-storey building collapsed in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi. Around 50-100 people are still feared trapped under the debris.
PM Modi on Monday expressed great pain at the loss of lives in a building collapse at Bhiwandi in Maharashtra. The 70-year-old took to twitter to offer his condolences to the families of the victims of the Bhiwandi disaster and gave an assurance that all necessary assistance was being provided to the affected.
The 30-year-old Jilani Building with 24 flats suddenly came crashing down at 3:45 am catching the victims’ off-guard. Locals speculate that the poor condition of the building and unattended problems such as leakages, seepages may have weakened the structure of the building that is located in a congested locality of the town.
Nearly ten people died when the multi-storey building collapsed in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. 20 people were rescued by the locals and 11 had been pulled out of the rubble by the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) team after the building collapsed in Patel compound area of the city.
IANS report suggests, 25, including an infant have been rescued safely although 12 have suffered injuries from the crash. 4 among the 10 deaths belong to minors.
