On Saturday, Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman was addressing the house and she revealed why 'Garib Kalyan Yojana' was not implemented in West Bengal.
Everyone is well aware of the employment scheme PM Modi launched on June 20, 2020, for the migrant workers. During Zero hour congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary raised a question regarding the migrant workers in West Bengal.
Finance minister listened to the question very carefully and then she answered the question. She said that state government didn't provide any information regarding whether district got 25000 immigrant workers or not so the scheme was not implemented on that particular state. She added that 'Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyaan' was implemented on a mission phase for about 125 days in the 116 districts of six states which were Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan,Bihar, Madhya Pradesh,Jharkhand and Odisha , who received at least 25,000 migrant workers who returned by the date of May 30. The whole situation indicates the fact that the West Bengal government didn't invite immigrant workers or didn't provide the train service as other states did so it can be seen as their carelessness regarding this matter.
