Two men in Delhi tried to snatch away the mobile phone from a 24-year-old man walking on the road. When he tried to obstruct it, they stabbed him with a knife.
The sufferer, Aman, was an inhabitant of East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar. He was a recruit at Civil Defence. This occurrence took place when Aman was walking on the streets of GB Road with his friends Anirudh(aged 22), Hari Om and Raju, at about 11:30 pm on Sunday. Whilst their walk, a person tried to snatch Aman’s mobile device. He got hold of the person who tried to snatch his phone away and began beating him up. Meanwhile, the snatcher’s associate stabbed him with a knife. As reported by the Police, Anirudh, Aman’s friend reached out to stop the person who attacked Aman with the knife and in the process, injured himself as well. Both Aman and Anirudh were taken to a hospital nearby, named Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. While getting admitted, Aman was proclaimed dead. And Anirudh underwent few medications for his injury and was soon discharged from the hospital. As reported by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sanjay Bhatia remarked that “We received information at 1:54 am from RML hospital through our duty constable”.
Sanjay Bhatia even reported that a case was enrolled under IPC “section 302 (for murder), section 307 (for an attempt to murder), section 394 (for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), section 397 (for the robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or serious hurt) and section 34 (for acts done by several people in furtherance of common intention)” at the police station of Kamla Market and further investigations are ongoing. It was known from the enquiries that Aman and his other three friends had a plan to meet up at ITO at around 11 pm. While Aman and Anirudh reached by their motorcycle, the other two friends reached there by auto to GB Road. Later, when Aman and Anirudh reached the location where the four friends were supposed to meet, they were attacked by the accused men. As both the snatchers subsided, the two friends who came in the auto rushed away from the area. Meanwhile, Anirudh dashed to the nearby hospital to hospitalise Aman who was stabbed by the knife. The Police reported that "We are checking CCTV cameras but have not found any footage of the incident yet. Local area criminals are being rounded up for questioning. Technical surveillance is also being mounted to track the snatched mobile phone of the deceased”.
