The Health Ministry has recently announced that India's recovery rate is 88.03 percent. PM Modi also said the same and considered early lockdown as one of the major reasons for the high recovery rate.
PM Modi attended the first day of the Grand Challenges Annual Meeting yesterday. The 2020 summit is being organized virtually from 19 October - 21 October. This summit brings together scientific leaders and policymakers. Co-Host of the event was the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, the Indian Council of Medical Research, and NITI Aayog. The Grand Challenges Canada, the United States Agency for International Development, and Wellcome were also part of the summit. In his address to the community, he said that India has one of the highest recovery rates with 88 percent and considered early lockdown as one of the major factors.
Earlier during the parliamentary Monsoon session 2020, Dr. Harshvardhan, union health minister claimed that many lives in large numbers were saved because of lockdown. The Prime minister also added that India is at the front for vaccine development to cure COVID-19. India is facing a decrease in corona cases in the past few days which is a good sign. He also used this opportunity to praise brilliant minds and said India has a vibrant and strong scientific community as well as good scientific institutions. These have been great assets, especially during this period. This annual meeting will continue for two more days and everyone is looking forward to it.
