Rehearsal for monsoon session during the pandemic
By Kunika Chaudhary
A rehearsal session was conducted for the monsoon season which starts from 14 September 2020 in the presence of vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Many things are changing during this pandemic. Last month parliament secretariats announced about the restricted zero hours and no question hour which was a topic of discussion for a long time because some opposing parties were not satisfied with this idea. The monsoon session is starting from 14 September 2020. Conducting this session during this pandemic can be hard for the government and Parliamentary secretariats. Rehearsal session went pretty well in the presence of chairperson Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, all norms regarding physical distancing were followed. Government and the officials are trying their best so that the session can go on even during this pandemic.
Several arrangements were made under the norms like social distancing. Additions in the House include four large and six small screens were added in the chambers and audio system in the four galleries of the house, special cables were used to connect the two Houses for the exchange of audio and visual signals, polycarbonate sheet was used to separate the official gallery from the Chambers of the respective House. The Rajya Sabha chamber and the galleries and the Lok Sabha chamber will be used for seating arrangements of the members, under norms 60 of whom will be in the chamber and 51 in galleries of Rajya Sabha. The other 132 members will be in the chamber of Lok Sabha. It will be a great challenge for us. We just have to see how this session will go on and how the opposition will react about this after the first day of the session.
