Sonu Sood has always been a very promising actor in Bollywood and has made a huge place in the hearts of people during these tough and challenging times. When everyone was fighting their own problems, the 'Dabbang' actor was out there fighting with millions of people for their problems.
The reel life villain has very much turned out to be the real-life hero for a countless number of people during the COVID. Sonu Sood has been given the sobriquet 'Messiah of Migrants' because he helped lakhs of migrants who could not go back to their homes due to the virus by sending them home safely. Other than that, he has also helped to a great extent in providing free education and medical facilities and providing employment for the countless unemployed people due to the pandemic.
Due to all the good and positive work he has been doing, he eventually was honoured with the very reputable SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award by the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme). The actor to appreciate and express the Honours said “This is a rare honour. UN recognition is very special. I have done whatever little I have done, in my own humble way, for my fellow countrymen without any expectations. However, to be recognised and awarded feels good.” He also said that he fully supports UNDP in its goals to achieve SDG's by 2030.
Sonu Sood with this becomes the second actor in Bollywood to get this award after Priyanka Chopra and has joined the group which includes very prominent actors of Hollywood like Angelina Jolie, David Beckham, Leonardo DiCaprio, Emma Watson, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, and Nicole Kidman who have been honoured by different UN bodies.
