By Swetaleena Mishra

The most awaited web series of the year Mirzapur 2 is all set to hit the screens on OTT platform Amazon Prime on 23rd October. The trailer is doing rounds on social media after the release yesterday with #BoycottMirzapur.

Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment created a sequel of Mirzapur which has now started to gravitate on social media with #BoycottMirzapur. This is because of the duo's opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) and National Register of Citizens(NRC) Act in December last year. Actor Ali Fazal, famous as Guddu Pandit of the series along with Farhan Akhtar was seen participating in anti-CAA protests last December. Tweets encouraging this are shared under the hashtags of #BoycottMirzapur. This hashtag has now become one of Twitter's most trending hashtags.

Apart from all trends stand some other fans waiting to know what happened after the shootout in the wedding hall? Who will be the next King of Mirzapur? What's coming up next after Golu, Munna Bhaiya and Guddu Pandit walked out safe from the shootout in the wedding hall in season 1? With utmost curiosity, some fans waiting for the series may therefore never want to boycott the sequel of Mirzapur. Fans also started sharing memes in social media against the boycott which is also on-trend. (Source: Twitter)

Reacting to these trends, Ali Fazal in an interview voiced that art can't be a bondsman in the mercy of trends. He even mentioned seeing no trends regarding farmers and their protests and said that the important stories don't always need to be on-trend to get noticed. Ali even shared the trailer on his twitter handle.
