Veteran actor Ajit Das dies at 71

Veteran Odia actor Ajit Das breathed his last on 13th September, Sunday at a private Covid-19 hospital in Bhubaneswar in which he was admitted on 1st September. He was 71 years old. The reasons for his death are withheld by the authorities upon the new regulations by the state, in which it declares that identities of Covid-19 patients can only be revealed with the due permission of the government or the patient himself.
Ajit Das' first film, Sindura Bindu earned him a lot of fame and he went about making as many as 60 films in his whole acting career and landed up doing the lead roles in movies like Hakim Babu and Tunda Baida. Ishq Puni Thare was his last work as an actor. Apart from acting, Das produced movies and was also the HOD of the drama club at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar.
Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha has shared his condolences with the actor's wife and three daughters along with Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi. According to Naveen Patnaik, the Odisha film industry will never be the same without Ajit Das, and though the legendary actor has passed away, he will always be etched in our memory.
