Youth dies of COVID-19 in Kokrajhar, Assam; positive cases rise to 1,499

In Kokrajhar district, 74 new COVID-19 positive cases have been detected, Kokrajhar deputy commissioner Bhaskar Phukan said the person, who has died of COVID-19 infection, has been identified as Subhash Sutradhar. Bhaskar was the son of Maya Sutradhar, a resident of Fakiragram village, tested positive for COVID19 on August 24, was admitted to the COVID Care Centre at the nursing college, Besorgaon on August 28. A chronic alcoholic with a frank psychiatric was the symptom of the patient. He was admitted to the RNB Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar on Saturday after he showed severe withdrawal syndromes but he succumbed to the infection on the same day.
The deputy commissioner Phukan informed that 74 new COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday have registered in Kokrajhar All the positive patients have been shifted to different COVID hospitals like Serfanguri hospital, RNB hospital, and Besorgaon COVID to Centre. A total of 1,499 COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Kokrajhar, said the deputy commissioner.
Around 1,100 COVID19 patients have been discharged from hospitals after their recovery, informed deputy commissioner. The reports of additional deputy commissioners Dabeswar Bora and Bhaskar Das have come out negative. He also informed that the conditions of the superintendent of police Rakesh Roushan, his family and additional deputy commissioner Pranjal Das and his family are improving.
