In an official announcement, popular streaming platform ZEE5 stated that an Indian adaptation of the hit Finnish show, Black Widows was on its way. The streamer wrapped up the deal with Uk-based NENT Studios earlier this year, in June.
The Indian version, starring Mona Singh, Swastika Mukherjee and Shamita Shetty in the lead roles, would be the eighth adaptation with remakes already available in countries like Ukraine, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Estonia, Mexico, Scandinavia and the Middle East. The ensemble cast also includes Sharad Kelkar, Raima Sen, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Aamir Ali Sabyasachi Chakraborty.
The show belongs to the genre of dark humour, which remains largely untapped in India. It would revolve around the lives of three friends who plan to murder their husbands. However, as the plan goes berserk, their friendship stands the test of time before it becomes a question of survival of the fittest. A Birsa Gupta directorial, the shooting for the show is in progress at Kolkata. The series would consist of 12 episodes.
